Jay Florence, a native of Athens, Georgia, is currently the Assistant Commissioner of Insurance for the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner.  While in college, he worked on several U.S. Congressional campaigns and ultimately received his B.A. from the University of Georgia in 2006 and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina in 2010.  Jay began work at the Department as an Enforcement Attorney, took on the responsibility of the Department’s legislative liaison in August of 2011, and was promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Insurance after the close of the 2013 legislative session.
